Cue masters
Ronellie Castillo

Filipinos are known to be pool hustlers in the world. Who could miss the styles and victories brought by Efren "Bata" Reyes, Django Bustamante and Amang Parika? These are just some of the names that gave prestige to the Philippines. But think about how they started? Where they used to practice? Malate is not only a place where you can only see bars, restaurants and KTVs, but also a place where the young people could show their ability and excellence in sports...billiards!!! There are three major billiard halls found at the heart of Malate, Manila. These are the Baracuda, Marlons and Arnold's. Each establishment caters to the different classes in the society. Baracuda is a place where usually the Class A and B people can be found. Students from De La Salle University and DLSU-Benilde are the usual patrons of this spot. Not only they have tournaments but also gimmicks for patrons like 50% discount when you have a lady with you on Wednesdays also called, Ladies Night. If your budget is not enough, but still you want to hang out and play in a cool spot, Marlon's has a lot to offer. Many students, high school and college, come here everyday to enjoy competing and having a bet with themselves. But if you are still short but looking for an accommodating spot, go to Arnold's. The only main problem is that it's way too long than the two billiard halls. There are still small time billiard halls within the area, but no matter how expensive or cheap the cost and the place looks like, the important thing is that you guys enjoy what you're doing. So play around and be the next cue master of the Philippines or better yet, the world!!!
