On the 26th of August, a live net coverage will be undertaken by the members of Cyber Journalism (CYBJORN) A51 class. Cyber Journalism is an elective for Print and Broadcast Journalism students of De La Salle University in the Philippines. This net event, named Out With Late Sleepers (OWLS), will also serve as their final class project. This innovative web site aims to document the activities and happenings of the Filipino youth on a typical Saturday night.

Four pre-selected areas around the metropolis, Makati City, Quezon City, Ortigas Center and Malate, will be covered by four teams with three members each over a specified six hour period. The coverage will begin at exactly 8:00 p.m and end at 1:59 a.m the following day. The teams will be transmitting the data using various multimedia formats (text, graphics, video and audio) to the official URL (http://owls.iwarp.com) via Mission Control which will be based on the De La Salle University campus.

Stories, photos and other information will be continuously fed to the web site throughout the allotted time period.

Aside from the original URL, a mirror site (www.geocities.com/late_sleepers) will also be updated.

This project is inspired by the CNN web site and the 24 Hours in Cyberspace project which have been pioneers of this method of disseminating information.

CYBJORN introduces students to different modes and levels of documenting and recording human experience on the Internet, specifically the World Wide Web.
